Thanks for joining me in this space! I like to write about our family’s adventures, things that inspire my spirit, and sometimes food.
I am a wife of one, mother of two, daughter of two, sister of three, and educator/creator/collector/writer. I love to view people as “walking stories” and I enjoy bringing those stories to life. I’ve worked as a high school teacher, kindergarten/grade one teacher, school director, camp program director and counsellor, writer, and editor.
Right now I’m working on a 10 month certification course through Forest School Canada. I’m returning to my first-love (education-wise): outdoor and experiential education.
I like to think of my primary role as the tender of the hearth. Here is a photo that I took that shows this present occupation of mine:
I love working with children and seeing them become excited about stories. I also love to travel and learn from other people and cultures.
Some questions I like to ponder:
- How is the spirit inspired?
- How can we slow down and live more simply?
- How can we make meaningful connections?
Quotes that inspire me:
Everybody today seems to be in such a terrible rush; anxious for greater developments and greater wishes and so on; so that children have very little time for their parents; parents have very little time for each other; and the home begins the disruption of the peace of the world.
— Mother Teresa
The opposite of war is not peace, it’s creation.
— Jonathan Larson Rent
If there is to be peace in the world,
There must be peace in the nations.
If there is to be peace in the nations,
There must be peace in the cities.
If there is to be peace in the cities,
There must be peace between neighbors.
If there is to be peace between neighbors,
There must be peace in the home.
If there is to be peace in the home,
There must be peace in the heart.
— Lao Tzu
